The origin of Biotin is synthetic. Biotin is occurring in nature and is also named vitamin H or "skin vitamin". Vitamin H is a member of the water-soluble B-Group. It is important for nearly all organisms and therefore is widespread in plants and animal cells. Natural sources with high biotin content include peanuts, blackberries, apples, leafy green vegetables, and strawberries. Human are not able to produce biotin by themselves. Biotin deficiency can cause skin redness and inflammation and other skin concerns and cause weak growth of hair, hair loss, and fragile nails. When ingested as a nutrient, biotin has been shown to increase growth of hair and horn in humans, thus it is frequently recommended as supplement for hair and nail growth. We of course don't recommend that you should ever ingest our bars! But a study conducted for hair care demonstrated that biotin can also help strengthen a single hair and help strengthen hair follicles when applied topically. Biotin has been used as food additive since decades and can be classified as "safe". The biotin in our formula is synthetically produced in Germany to ensure stability. The process achieves exactly the same chemical structure as that of natural biotin - which is why many brands call it "natural" instead of revealing its synthetic origin. Biotin is used in our men's all over hair and body bar to help stimulate the scalp.
